If dccm crashes on every connection, then socket is clearly present at
first, or dccm wouldn't know to crash.

The crashes are the important problem.  What does the stack trace say?
That can be found by:

  - updatedcc -e DBGFLAGS=-g
  - let dccm crash
  - gdb /var/dcc/libexec/dccm /var/dcc/dccm.core
