Spamassassin & dccifd: pthread_create(): Cannot allocate memory

Fri Dec 16 13:57:00 UTC 2005

Just installed DCC with dccifd (1.3.24) and Spamassassin 3.1.0 and sendmail
(8.12.8-4) on Redhat 9.0.

Everything is working fine until the dccifd process dies with the following
log entries:

Dec 15 15:52:22 server dccifd[19733]: pthread_create(): Cannot allocate
Dec 15 15:52:23 server spamd[23829]: failed to read header
Dec 15 15:52:23 server spamd[23829]: dcc: dccifd -> check skipped: failed
to read header at
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/Mail/SpamAssassin/Plugin/ line 404.

After restarting DCC (rcDCC) it will work for a few hours.

Any hints? Or shall I forget about dccifd and use dccproc which seems to
work fine
everywhere else. I cannot really say that the message volume is high, maybe
1000 per day or so.
