DCC 1.1.45 - can't load new map file

I do not understand how that can happen.  It is as if the system
has been built with MAXHOSTNAMELEN equal to 8 or 9.
Is there any chance that MAXHOSTNAMELEN in some header file in /usr/include
has been corrupted to 8 or 9?
