I have downloaded the dcc-dccd-1.3.24 tar ball again, run configure, the 
results above are the same.  The difference when using configure this time 
was I did not disable building dccm. This is when I observed a complaint 
about missing sendmail headers and libraries. So far, I have not found 
sendmail hdrs  or dev lib for MAC OSX 10.3

Using the same tar ball on a FC4 machine produces the results above and will 
build the grey db. All is well on the FC4 box.

I have checked, there are not dbs. And r+w permissions are granted for the dcc 
user on the /var/dcc folder.

No, just used above mentioned tar ball and ./configure on MAC OSX 10.3. This 
user is in dire need of DCC.
