FreeBSD..

Sorry about that.  I do some funny stuff with FreeBSD around here.  On
that note, I've determined the rootdir that DCC exists in under FreeBSD
can not be a memory filesystem, and yes that was causing the error.  Sorry
for any time you wasted trying to hunt that down.
