The DCC is more effective if spam is received by a "spam trap" before real mailboxes. It is difficult to spread effective spam traps around the Internet, but there are several hundred addresses at every domain that are often hit before any legitimate mailboxes. Those are the entries in the standard spammer "dictionary attack list." That list may not be useful at large domains where most of the entries are in fact valid user names, but it can be very useful at small domains. I've tried to improve the text describing the use of the list at http://www.rhyolite.com/anti-spam/dict-attack.html with a DCC client. I would welcome suggestions on how to make it more clear.
