Mailkey Secure Solutions Ltd

On July 24, 2003, Bryan Carmichael of Mailkey Secure Solutions Ltd sent this question about entry for mailkey.com in the Rhyolite Software list of unwelcome domains. That message is from a dccm logdir file, because mail from mailkey.com is unwelcome at Rhyolite Software.

That listing exists because of a bunch of unsolicited, substantially identical messages received at Rhyolite Software like this one.

My response. to Mr. Carmichael included

] Mailkey.com is in my list of unwelcome domain names because of the
] flood of substantially identical (i.e. bulk) and unsolicited mail
] (therefore spam) that was sent to contributors to the IRTF's ASRG
] mailing list. That mailkey.com does not have reputable whois contact
] data sealed the issue for me. That the messages were advertising for
] mailkey.com didn't help.
] ...

I suspect Mr. Carmichael knew much of that because I can't think how he might have found my list except by asking Google. That turns up all of this and more.

My response to Mr. Carmichael produced this mail message demanding that I jump through his hoop before he would read my response. I had already temporarily removed mailkey.com entry from my list, which seemed like more than enough trouble to take. Evidently Mr. Carmichael did not want to hear why his domain name is in the Rhyolite Software list of unwelcome domains. If I'm wrong about that, perhaps he will find this web page.

Contact vjs@rhyolite.com but not this spam trap.
